About the Artist

Cynthia Taylor
Cynthia Taylor
Cynthia grew up in the Pacific Northwest. From early childhood, the beauty of her surroundings inspired her earliest drawings and her love of art. However, discouraged at an early age from pursuing a career in art, she looked for other ways to express her creativity. Music being one of her loves, she enjoyed playing the violin for many years and added the piano later in life. Working alongside her husband in their own business allowed her to practice interior design which was a wonderful creative outlet for her. However, it wasn't until her early 40's that she was able to pursue her first creative love.....painting.
In 2000, she took lessons from a local artist. This sparked her passion for oil painting. She picked up the fundamentals quickly and "within a short time, I knew I found my passion," she says.
She began entering local and regional shows in Washington, Oregon and Arizona where she was awarded in each competition she entered. She soon realized this was far more than a hobby. She began seeking out well known artists, whom she admired their work, and enrolled in their workshops in an effort to expand her knowledge and skill level. These artists would inspire and help draw to the surface her own distinct style. However, it never replaced what she says is the most impactual thing an artist can do for their craft..."hard work behind the easel."
One magazine that featured her worked said, "Cynthia's art is both timeless, yet timely". Cynthia shows "meticulous attention to detail which creates an amazing illuminosity and timelessness to her subjects." Her work has earned many awards and is highly sought after by collectors both in this country and abroad. Her work can be found in several galleries across the country and in corporate collections.
Currently, Cynthia's studio is in her home in Napa Valley, CA. She teaches classes in her studio where she finds great joy in helping aspiring artists refine their skills. She is an active member in several organizations and artists groups.
